The closely contested match played on Saturday at TENP grounds in Eldoret, marked the first time the Polytechnic had defeated their long-time rivals.
The narrow victory came after the team maintained a tight defensive focus throughout the game, effectively containing Kabarak’s attacks while seizing key opportunities to score.
Players demonstrated resilience, concentration, and teamwork, turning a high-pressure contest into a historic win that highlights TENP’s growing prowess in rugby.
Dr. Koech praised the players for their performance, noting that their preparation and execution of the game plan were key to the victory.
He singled out Deputy Principal (Administration) Paul Seurey, Sports Master Musa Kibet, and Head Coach Bryan Ndale for strengthening the team’s structure, improving fitness, and refining tactics.
Their guidance helped the players stay composed under pressure and implement a strong defensive strategy that secured the win, while the institution’s support and team unity were also vital to this historic achievement.
Dr. Koech reaffirmed that The Eldoret National Polythechnic management would continue to provide full support to not only the rugby team but also to the entire sports department, offering guidance, resources, and encouragement to sustain their growth.
He also emphasized the importance of building on this milestone and maintaining the teamwork and determination that earned the victory, cementing TENP as a force to be reckoned with in Kenyan rugby.
